There is likely scarring on some of them, but anytime there's a scar, it will gradually move right down the side with just-arrived growth. New segments will form and what it looks appreciate today, will likely be quite different in a year or two. They are cactus and parts do have spines!
It is truly easy to grow and cold hardy as low as -12°C (or less). This cultivar seems to do better with a little more water than exceptionally cacti. This Cactus requires abundant, bright and direct light. Place it less than one foot from a window to ensure it receives enough light to survive.
